A local shipyard commissioned Tuckys Photography to document the Singapore offshore maritime production process of a catamaran. Specifically, Tuckys Photography covered the later part of the production period. Tuckys Photography’s Singapore maritime photography and videography of the vessel covers the boat launch and sea trial, as well as the heavy lift onto a transportation vessel for delivery. The vessel will be used for crew transportation to offshore wind farms for clients’ operations.

Singapore Maritime Photography – Catamaran Heavy Lift

What the catamaran is built for
The vessel is a catamaran built for crew transfer. It will spend its working life carrying technicians out to offshore wind farms for the client’s operations. Tuckys Photography joined the project for the later part of production, when the boat finally meets the water.
Launch and sea trial
The launch comes first. From there the work moves to the sea trial, where the crew put the vessel through its paces before handover.
A boat technician checks the hull room gear before the trial begins. In the engine room, another technician inspects the dashboard as the trial starts, then monitors engine performance while the catamaran runs. On the bridge the captain pilots the vessel, and at intervals he and his crew talk through the course of action. Tuckys Photography photographs most of it as the work happens. Where it is safe, the photographer directs the action, but the task itself is real.
Filming from the air
Much of the aerial work is done with a drone. A UAV can hold close proximity to a small vessel under way, which is almost impossible by other means. For one sequence, the team filmed two catamarans running side by side.
The heavy lift and delivery
Delivery is the last stage. A crane lifts each catamaran onto a transport vessel, and the project manager for the lift supervises throughout. Much of the work happens at night in port. Once both boats sit secured on deck, the transport vessel carries them out to the client.
Why builders and yards commission this work
A production record of this kind gives a builder something to sell with. Buyers see the vessel in the water rather than on a specification sheet, and they see the people who built and tested her. Consequently the same set serves marketing, sales and the project record at once.

Much of Tuckys Photography’s offshore work is shot from the air as well as from the water — see its aerial photography of vessels at anchor and underway.
Offshore maritime photography and videography services
For shipyards and vessel builders, the offshore maritime photography and videography Tuckys Photography produces covers the whole delivery of a boat.
Vessel launch photography
The launch of a newbuild at the yard, documented from the first movement to the vessel afloat.
Sea trial photography and video
Captain and engine-room technicians at work during trials, photographed on board and filmed under way.
Aerial drone footage of vessels
Two catamarans running side by side, filmed from a UAV that can get close to small craft where no other platform can.
Heavy lift and delivery documentation
Vessels lifted onto a transport ship for delivery, photographed as a sequence so the yard can show the whole operation.
Crew and technician portraits on board
Environmental portraits of the captain and crew in discussion and technicians inspecting the engine room and hull gear.
Marketing films for boat builders and shipyards
Stills and video cut into marketing material that shows buyers what the vessel is built for and how it performs at sea.
